Week 6: Sanderson Budget Challenge
Monday
- Snow Day
Tuesday
- The first thing we need to do today is to have our students update their budget challenge. We have been away for almost a week and I am sure there are a few out there that haven't taken the time to do that.
- If your students haven't done so already have them take the following quiz Bank NSF Quiz (24pts) that they can find on their budget challenge website.
- You can go in and review past quizzes and discuss the answers. You can find the quiz results under Teacher Home on the budget challenge page. Click on Quiz Results and then select one of the 2 quizzes that have already closed. If you scroll down the page it will review the quiz and the correct answers. By clicking on the individual questions it will show you who answered it correctly and who didn't. That is more for your information than the entire class! Today I am going to review both of the past quizzes after all of my students get a chance to update their bills and take the current quiz available. They earn points for taking quizzes, so we need to encourage them to take all of the quizzes and to take them seriously. If my students are putting in an actual effort they are not getting points for that day.
- I am also requiring my students to keep a copy of Budget and Cashflow Spreadsheet that they can show me. If they are keeping it electronically in a Google Doc then they can share it with me. Otherwise they are keeping a paper copy. My students will be updating their information today.
Wednesday
- Reading Day
Thursday
- We are going to play Tax Bingo today. You can break your students into pairs or groups to have them find the information on the Tax Bingo Board. When the group finishes you can use the Glossary that I gave you to check their answers and then determine if their work is prize worthy!
Friday
- We are going to use the Free Rice website to play some vocabulary games. You don't have to keep it on English vocab. There are several options for you to change it to in order to challenge your students. I usually play this as a competition between groups in my class.
