Your Health Triangle

Three Elements of Health

  1. Physical Health         How well your body functions.   Means getting enough sleep, rest, eating nutrious meals, drinking enough H2O, and being physically active on a regular basis.   Also includes using strategies when applying the decision making process regarding healthy habits.   Good physical health also involves paying attention to what you put into your body; avoiding harmful substances such as tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.
  2. Social Health   Involves the way you get along with others. Includes your abilities to make and keep friendships and to work and play in cooperative ways, seeking support when needed.   Also involves communicating well and showing respect and care for yourself and others.
  3. Mental/Emotional Health   Feelings about yourself, how well you meet the demands of daily life, and ability to process information.   People with good mental/emotional health can:   handle increased responsibilities, enjoy challenges, accept responsibility for their actions, stand up for their beliefs and values, and express feelings in appropriate ways.

Each side of the triangle is equally important to your overall health.   When one side is lacking, it is likely to cause you problems at some point.
