Course Design
Moodle offers flexibility in designing your course. You can add images, decide which blocks to make available, change the look, and more!- Blocks
These are the squares around the outside of your course content. You can add or remove blocks at any time. It is recommended that you remove any blocks not currently being used.
- Topic vs. Weekly format
This course is set up in topic format, with each of these modules you see on this page being considered a topic. You can go into the course settings and change the number of topics for your course at any time. You can also choose the weekly format, in which case each module would represent a week of your course. (There are other options for course format which you are welcome to explore at moodle.org.)
- Add a banner
You can add a banner as a label in any module. To do this, go to a free banner making site (Cool Text is an example and is linked below), create and download an image file, upload it to your files area, then link it in the label area. The "Moodle Basics" colored logo above is an example of this. You can add any image as a label in Moodle.
Tema 3
Files
This is your course file cabinet where you will upload documents, PowerPoint presentations, images, and other files.
- Folders (directories)
It is a good idea to organize your files area by creating a folder structure and uploading the corresponding files to those folders. One of the main benefits to using folders is that you can then link an entire folder to any area of you course if there are several related files you'd like students to access all together. This is done by chosing "display a directory".
- Uploading files
To add files to your course, go to the files area. Select the folder you wish to place the file in, then simply follow the prompts to upload the file. (Upload, browse to find your file, etc.) You can then link to any file from any location in your course be selecting "link to a file or web site".
Tema 4
Add a resource
Resources are items that you want students to look at or download. Upload a file, link to a website, display a directory (folder), compose a text page, and more.
- Insert a label
This is an area to add a heading or any text to be displayed in the topic area.
- Compose a text page or web page
This will allow you to create a page of text (or HTML code) that will be linked from the topic area.
- Link to a file or web site
This will do exactly what it says. Make sure to have the file or web site open in a new window.
- Display a directory
Link to a folder from your files area.
Tema 5
Add an activity
Activities are items that students will "do". Assignments, discussion forums, quizzes, and other activities are created here.
Tema 6

These are some sample lessons to give you an idea of what the lessons feature allows you to create.
